The Classic Skyscrapers of Chicago

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

This is a small tour of 28 of Chicago's classic buildings constructed in the 1920s and 1930s. It was shot over 6 months, ranging from Summer of 2013 to the Winter of 2013/2014. The film is organized in two "walks". The first, more or less, going up LaSalle St, along the river, and back down Michigan Ave. The other takes place north of the river, starting along the riverfront and then heading up Michigan Ave. A few buildings have gone by numerous names through time, so I tried to go with whatever title seemed to be the most common. A few buildings had to be left out for reasons varying from poor shooting angles to a lack of information available. I try not to dwell too long on any building. This is more of an introduction, and hopefully it inspires a few people to get out there and experience them themselves. The film is optimized for mobile devices, but can still be enjoyed on the TV or computer. All video, editing, music, writing and narration is done by James O'Malley www.OsageFilms.com
