Drayton Manor Theme Park is preparing to kick off the 2009 season with a brand new £1 million attraction - a 4D cinema. The state-of-the-art 152 seat theatre, developed by simulation specialist Simworx UK, will feature numerous immersive special effects to create an unforgettable experience for all the family. As well as seats that move, slide and rumble in sync with the action on screen, water spray, air blasts, leg ticklers, aroma, low smoke and bubbles released at key moments will add to the excitement. Swash buckling adventure, The Curse of Skull Rock, which was crowned winner of the Best Childrens Animated Film award at the prestigious Stuttgart Film Festival, will be the first feature to be shown. The 4D cinema will be housed in an existing building which Drayton Manor will re-fit with a 1930s, Art-deco style frontage. West Midlands based Simworx UK will provide a high definition projection system to present the 3D imagery, along with special effects lighting and the companys Dimensions 4D effects seats. The whole theme park will open for the 2009 season on Saturday 21st March. However, the popular Thomas Land™ attraction, which features 12 themed rides based on the Thomas & Friends™ series, will be open during February half-term holiday (Saturday 14th February Sunday 22nd February).
