Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

http://www.ted.com Our lives, our cultures, are composed of many overlapping stories. Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice -- and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding. TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate. 1. DID YOU JUST MISLABEL MY CONTINENT?
  2. Beautifully said ".... all stories matter and can be used to restore the dignities of mankind...." wow makes me proud to be an African woman in this day something that single stories told by people who do not even know us made us to look down on ourselves, may God forgive us for the time of not knowing that i am strong, im beautiful, im smart, im intelligent, i am creative, i am very well able, i too am beyond capable to change this world with my gifts and talents and indeed i am wonderfully and fearfully made, im not inferior and neither am i a second class citizen in this world...haaaa made my day!
  3. This reminds me of the time I was in grade school and all those white kids assumed by parents owned a 7 Eleven. It's surprising how little has changed
  4. This video made me cry. In class. I feel bad and mad
  5. This "single story" is identity politics...its the reason why any black person who speaks against BLM is called all kinds of names, why women like Ana Kasparian (The Young Turks) feel that women who voted for Trump are "effing dumb". They are so limited in their thinking that they see one aspect of a person and expect that that is the only possible motivating factor.
  6. I never realized how much danger there actually is in a single story. This was very beautiful & very well spoke. I'll definitely be listening to more of her.
  7. The best red talk ever!Greetings from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico!
  8. The danger of a single story is that ignorant sheep on the internet passionately believe bullshit people such as this lady attempting to feed their idiotic theories and poppycock "science" to the masses. ;)
  9. intense talk. really makes you think.
  10. After watching this, I now know not to point out that most white people are racist because they stereotype black people in general. Now I understand that most of them do not know more than what the media covers and that it would happen to me as well! This is a really nice video!
  11. my chapter
  12. Omg how brilliant! She is amazing ❤️
  13. hi miss Chimamanda..i really love your single story.very inspiring. please i just want to know your own definition of a single story according to this video. i also want to know what the danger of the single story is all about?waiting to get a reply from you.Thanks.
  14. Chimamanda Adichie So inspirational. Couldn't ve put it any better. Ppl's Perceptions of others being viewed singularly can b not only ignorant, but stupid. There r always different sides n angles to every story. Usually open-minded tho still get shocks n surprises few times. Since childhood, growing up ve always been very curious of others, their ways, customs n traditions. As an adult ll argue to defend n stood up 4 others I barely knew. I dislike generalizations, condemning a whole lots; of groups 4 reasons or any reason at all nor take out d sins of 1 person on others always looking out 4 d best in all tho a lil skeptical here n there once in awhile but in most cases, I refused to judge n condemn others. Must take n individual 4 who they r according to their ways or how they presented themselves n their behavior afterwards.
  15. Good.😃
