The decline of the german architecture

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

The original video was created by: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-KVJG5gv7s He allowed me to remake it for english watchers, too. The video informs about the german architecture and what mistakes we do today, and how it was once. Noone should accept grey blocks, instead of beautiful buildings that create a wonderful cityscape. Noone wants to stop modern technology, concrete or glass construction, but they shall have soul and not make you depressed. We demand historical elements combined with a modern construction in the inside.

  1. I've been in Germany just once (4 years ago) and I found the Germans very americanized. I guess an American would feel much more at home in Germany than a Frenchman or an Italian.
  2. I love the old German designs but the new ones i dont know what to say besides ugly and they look like cheep housing found in Eastern Europe or Asia not the giant that is Germany. Anyway Germany doesn't have a architecture law? In Australia we have laws prohibiting the destruction of any building built before federation hood (1901) and we must restore these buildings forever as they are heritage sites. Plus if you look at Melbourne and Perth you will see the beauty of English/Australian architecture. please look at these pictures.

I couldn't find pictures of old and new combined but it is truly beautiful going by tram through Melbourne and passing over 19th century bridges but towards the sky are skyscrapers which look ahead of their time. I also couldn't find any pics of Perth city where old meets new in a completely different way... we have holograms on 19th century buildings and skyscrapers which have scrolling text on the windows.
  3. Why did Hitler have to die
  4. thank the United Imperial States for stopping Hitler only to become Hitler
  5. It's a shame , but in a country where no one wanted to have children , and the population is disappearing to be replaced by other people, it will lose its importance in less than a decade ... Unfortunately , European leftists determined its own extinction ...

  7. I know why and choose not to say.
  8. What is that horrible glass block doing in the middle of all of the beautiful buildings in Bremen? I think the main reasons for the move to this ugly style, is the lack of funding to build in the older style, and the safety regulations that new buildings must meet. It's a real shame though, because there will come a time, when all of the older architecture will crumble, and Germany will become a glass and concrete jungle! I hope Germany starts paying attention to architecture again, and I wish Germany prosperity in the future!
  9. Yuk! Modern architecture is really crap!
  10. You can choose what to show and especially not to show when talking about modern architecture.

These dead cold grey blocks that are described here are well known sadly not only in Germany.

But there are plenty of other modern buildings to be proud of in Germany.

When I visit Germany I'm always stunned by the old architecture but so am I by much of the more modern architecture too that should have been shown here as a proof of a proud architectural tradition.
  11. Nationalists will guide Germany in returning to glorious values.
  12. A decade ago when I visited the Durbach, the home town of my maternal grandmother, my mother's cousin (who grew up there) showed us around and pointed out that all of the old style timbered buildings had to be kept up as required by law.  They could be changed on the interior but the exterior had to remain historically accurate.  I suppose this must only apply to old existing buildings, though, and not to new ones.
  14. Vielen Dank für diese gelungene Präsentation !
Thank's for these successful presentation !
