The Six Epochs of Evolution

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

This video maps out Kurzweil's SIX EPOCHS OF EVOLUTION showing the exponential progression in the way the universe stores and processes information... what we see is a bootstrapping recursive complexification leading us towards some kind of intelligence singularity. "Part Timothy Leary, part Ray Kurzweil, and part Neo from 'The Matrix.'..." JASON SILVA is an extraordinary new breed of philosopher who meshes philosophical wisdom of the ages with an infectious optimism for the future. Combining intriguing insights and a mastery of digital filmmaking, Jason delivers philosophical shots of espresso, which unravel the incredible possibilities the future has to offer the human race. Called the "Timothy Leary of the Viral Video Age" by The Atlantic, and a "Performance Philosopher" by the TED Conference, Jason draws from his experiences as a television personality, a media artist, a filmmaker, and a techno-philosopher to share his inspirational take on scientific and technological advancements, the evolution of intelligence, and the human condition. Using his series of short videos, which The Atlantic described as "movie trailers for ideas," Jason explores the co-evolution of humans and technology. His videos have garnered over 2 million views. Jason's work is a kind of "existential jazz," a fan says, "like a trumpet player or modern-day digital Mingus, he jams, riffs and rhapsodizes through a tumbling thicket of ideas with such a sharp and vital alacrity that it can take the breath away. He's a modern performance philosopher, reviving the vibe of Tim Leary and Buckminster Fuller and revivifying the dialogue that they started decades ago." The Imaginary Foundation says, "Like some kind of Ontological DJ, he recompiles the source code of western philosophy by mixing and mashing it up into a form of recombinant creativity, which elevates understanding from the dry and prosaic, to a sensual cognitive romance." Join Jason Silva every week as he freestyles his way into the complex systems of society, technology and human existence and discusses the truth and beauty of science in a form of existential jazz. 1. We are becoming God
  2. the prophet in retrospect
  3. This would be interesting if this guy's voice wasn't so obnoxious. Can't even listen to him. Yuk!
  4. oh fantastic, All hail mediocrity! Another low brow philosopher that's dressing up their ignorantly mundane musings with music, cgi and poetic prose and confusing this with deep and meaningful philosophy. I do love his enthusiasm and passion for asking questions but there are philosophers both new and old with far more profound ideas than this Jason fellow... As we say in the UK, sit down son.
  5. "having created Gods, we can turn into them." wow.. really interesting quote.
  6. Evolution is a lie.
  7. This is fuckin awesome man, right on!!
  8. Y'know, there's a way to sound amazed and astounded and jazzed and pumped and not treat your audience like they are 5 years old. This shit is really important. Pick another tone. I feel like I should get back to my graham crackers and apple juice when you are done.
  9. The universe is already intelligent. Maybe it's us that wakes up instead.
  10. I swear we share the exact same brain. Never before have I found someone who thinks about the exact same things that I do, in the same way as I do. I'm just grateful that you make these videos because they show me I am not alone in thinking this way. So thank you for making these videos and this channel! Keep up the amazing work!
  11. I would be very happy if there were more videos of this kind -- about technological revolution that we are to face very soon and transhumanism. Thank you, Jason, for making great videos.
    [Sorry for my English]
  12. Holy crap, he's annoying.
  13. This guy is totally high or drunk while filming this.  Only way I could tackle this subject myself.
  14. epoch 7, we saturate the multiverse with intelligence, epoch 8, the omniverse, epoch 9 the macroverse and omegaverse, what would an perpetual array of macroversal and omegaversal minds be capable off, this by far transcends omnipotence
  15. so what happens when we get to six
  16. Such an interesting horse cock...WE just can't compare, down here,in the mud, with no horses around...
  17. I'm a God??  Yes!!
  18. Epoch 7: Transcendence
  19. I love the mind of Jason Silva because he deeply wresles with the quesions of life. He is a seeker for truth and knowlwdge....I just question how far he is willing to explore ???
Scientists today explain the wonders of life on earth by "Random Chance", but they hate the thought of a "Grand Designer".  The complex (information code) DNA is explained away as "self organizing biology". (In this universe any information is always created by an author - not by chance)   The fine-tuning of this universe - for life - is exlained away, as the results of trillions of "Multiverses".  Science still believes that the mind produces consciousness.   On the other hand, Quantum physics tells us that consciousness "creates" reality, not the other way around.   We have almost come to the point where it is easier to see the stroke of the "Designer" (call it what you want?) fine tuning a system for our consciousness - to experience earth-life... It is less of a faith-stretch than the trillions of "Muliverses" and "Random Change" creating the most complex information code - and a "designer like" Universe.

  20. ...did I see a nipple? Goes back a few seconds. I think I saw a nipple.
