Gerald Ford Class Aircraft Carrier - all you wanted to know but were afraid to ask, well almost. $13.2bn is the cost of each carrier at 2015 $ costs, so they aren't cheap. Gerald Ford Carriers are largest Aircraft Carriers to date, they're also more capable than any previous carrier in US fleet and as they enter service over next few decades they'll replace Nimitz class. It is planned the last of the Nimitz Carriers to exit the service sometimes in late 2030s or earlt 2040s when the last of the Gerlad Ford Class Carriers will also enter service, Total 10 Carriers will enter service for 5 fleets with one of the last Nimitz Carrier remaining in service as a training ship. 2. This 13.2 billion dollar bully is going to scare China into submission? I think not. If you are going to war with China or Russia, you don't bring a 13 billion dollar duck to battle. China has thousands powerful ballistic missiles that can sink it. This boondoggle can not even be ready for active duty. It still sits in the dock getting fixed.
