The last years of the Obama administration have seen extraordinary advances in security cooperation between the United States and India. Their growing strategic alignment spurred the two countries to push forward on joint exercises, expand their defense trade, and build the institutional foundation for future partnership. But the relationship is still vulnerable to cold snaps, and there are many areas where much work remains to be done. Continuing the Obama administration's record of success on this issue will require focused effort from the next administration. To mark the launch of a new report on the past and future of the U.S.-India security relationship, the Wadhwani Chair and the International Security Program will host Dr. Peter Lavoy, Senior Director for South Asia at the National Security Council. Dr. Lavoy has helped shape India policy in the past three administrations. He will speak on the progress made in recent years and the hurdles facing the next administration.
