At the heart of "small town" is a big, grand house that now goes by the name "Villa Sariaya." It was not always known by that name. It was originally known as the "Rodriguez House" as it is the ancestral house of the renowned and wealthy Rodriguez clan of Sariaya. It isn't clear when the name changed. As for the reason for the change, I am guessing that it has to do with the fact that it has since become THE icon of the town of Sariaya. In other words, it now represents not just the Rodriguez clan but the whole town as well. The other probable reason is the fact that there is another—albeit also related—Rodriguez House in Sariaya. Strictly speaking, the other Rodriguez House is formally known as the Rodriguez-Gala Ancestral House but it has since appropriated the Rodriguez House monicker for itself which I guess is alright since the original Rodriguez House is now known as Villa Sariaya. Villa Sariaya is your typical late 1800s to early 1900s rich Filipino-Spanish house. It is huge with spacious living and dining rooms.
