Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

Monica von Schmalensee, Eric Parry, Olga Felip and Nigel Coates discuss what makes a great cultural project in architecture after looking over global entries for the AR Culture awards. With the AR Culture awards, the Architectural Review is seeking the most exciting cultural buildings in the world – from museums to performance spaces, galleries to libraries. In this video, the jury Monica von Schmalensee, Olga Felip, Eric Parry and Nigel Coates, chaired by AR Editor Christine Murray, discuss the judging process - one that faced the difficult task of first defining what a cultural space should be. The Architectural Review is the only 21st century global architecture magazine. The home of architectural criticism, culture and campaigning since 1896. www.the-ar.com

  1. the thing that troubles me about the judging process is that it is very subjective and purely based on design boards at the outset which for me, however I may be up to speed with the media and technology does leave questions.
