Why the buildings of the future will be shaped by ... you | Marc Kushner

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

"Architecture is not about math or zoning — it's about visceral emotions," says Marc Kushner. In a sweeping — often funny — talk, he zooms through the past thirty years of architecture to show how the public, once disconnected, have become an essential part of the design process. With the help of social media, feedback reaches architects years before a building is even created. The result? Architecture that will do more for us than ever before. 1. This guy's gotta go
  2. a complete rip off from Alain de Beton's The architecture of happiness...
  3. I prefer heterosexual architecture.
  4. I was hoping he would show an example like Sou Fujumoto's library... Also, I personally love brutalism, and I am sure Im not alone.. hate is a very strong word!!
  5. there were some damn nice buildings in this video.
  6. I'm not an architect but I do love the subject....I actually like those concrete 'ugly' buildings of the 70s maybe it is tied in with nostalgia as I was a child in that era but I think that is what architecture is...it means something to you personally just like Art...different people see different things and it is the way you interpret it in your own mind...I like buildings that are not only dynamic on the outside, but how their dimensions fascinate me, how they function, what is inside them, what can they be used for etc. It is a naive view of architecture I know, but I really liked this gentleman's talk. You can see his love for creation and it was intoxicating to me as I feel the same and know exactly what he is talking about!..x
  7. amazing what inspires a person to change the world , trips to the bathroom. whatever makes it happen is a good thing. my favorite is dig a hole , fill the middle with hay , pour in cement , hahaha minimalism.
  8. The first celebrity architect was Frank Lloyd Wright, and he's still the only architect most people can name.
  9. I actually enjoyed the examples of brutalism 😬😬
  10. And we keep pretending we are NOT a shallow civilization... it's all about the looks.
  11. congratulations! nós somos o Futuro and the future is now!
  12. That building in Spain (hay, concrete, cow).. I think it's beautiful! Like it brought tears to my eyes! (and that hardly ever happens!). I love that building! It's not ugly. It's beautiful.
  13. Great selection of featured projects.
  14. Frank Lloyd Wright was our first "Star-chitect."
  15. Insightful and exciting lectur, although you made a massive error when said 'We dont need the Greeks to tell us what architecture is'. The Greeks when studied thoroughly is much more than Virtruvius, its an ancient culture with tons of knowledge from the ancient collective.
  16. So, we can design the buildings huh? Does that mean they are going to start using gothic, Edwardian, Georgian and classic styles again? You know, real architecture.
  17. Really interesting presentation, many intriguing buildings new to me.
  18. The building you made was pure crap. It had no feeling, no design, and it was plain as if you literally built it out of sticks. Fucking real. Don't call other architecture hideous when yours was the worst looking there lol.
