Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono concluded the summit and declared that the delegates would be judged by their actions in the years ahead - rather than the words and agreements which culminated in the signing of the Asia-African Strategic Partnership on Saturday. Speaking on behalf of Asian countries, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called for more efforts in the United Nations to give the developing world a bigger say in international affairs. Earlier, presidents, prime ministers and kings representing some 4.6 (b) billion people were flown under heavy security to the hill town of Bandung, where 50 years ago, Indonesia's fiery leader Sukarno used a similar meeting to bring international prominence to the developing world. The big difference between Sunday's event in Bandung and the historic 1955 conference was the level of security deployed by the hosts. In contrast, 50 years ago Bandung's residents freely mingled with the delegates with just 200 metres separating the town's main hotel, the art deco Savoy Hommann, from the hall.
