YAMAHA C2 5'7" "ART DECO" special edition baby grand!

Concept, photos, videos, examples, construction

JUST ARRIVED!! What a Christmas Present this would make! If you have been looking for something a little different in a baby grand piano take a look at this. Perhaps the only one of it's kind that has survived since being manufactured by Yamaha in 1966 this piano is certainly set apart from the rest. The piano started out as a G2 5'7" as far as all mechanics and interior parts, fittings and hardware. However the case was designed with an Art Deco motif. Smooth tapered "Oval" legs are a departure form the squared off spade legs of standard models. Pedal lyre is very interesting as it has a single beam support which give it a very clean look. Pedal rods are built in to the pedal housing, something I wish they did on every piano! The bottom front of the keybed is turned downward and rounded which gives the piano a modern look when viewed from the front. It is hard to explain all these differences so I took many detailed pictures, they should be examined carefully since eveytime I look at this piano I see something different! Take a look at the rear leg how it is stepped up into the bottom of the piano. The piano just arrived from Japan where it was completely disassembled by Yamaha's technicial school of piano building. Upgrades from 1966 include Yamaha factory slo close fallboard as well as current YAMAHA logo in inlaid brass, new keytops and key bushings as well as complete restringing with refinished plate. Incidently, when the plate was refinished all hardware was removed including the agraffs. After refinishing everything was then replaced with new instead of what is more commonly done when everything is just painted over in gold. We normally don't offer rebuilt pianos unless we know where the work was done and to what quality level. This piano wholeheartedly gets my seal of approval and I would have no hesitiation in sending this piano to anyone. I would even recommend the installation of a player in this piano. This is the true test of it's quality since the player system will not operate properly on a piano that is not up to factory spec. Condition is stunning with no nicks, chips or dents. Piano was used just a a showpiece. Piano Outlet is a major supplier of pre-owned Yamaha and Kawai pianos. 1. This grand piano is actually G2-model - not C2. It is designed by Czech-born U.S. architect, Antonin Raymond, who is considered as the father of modern Japanise architecture. He worked a major part of his life in Japan - before and after the WW2. Among his huge amount of works in Japan is Gunma Music Centre (Yamaha-house) in Takasaki, 1955. I remember seeing an upright piano by him, too. By the way, isn't the original colour of this instrument mahogany red? The colour in this video looks too dark for me. We have this kind of instrument in our home.
  2. Why are you telling me this? I didn't care about the cinematography.
  3. Next Art Deco Piano you find, you play Jazz. Give a better feeling of the time the piano could have been made.
  4. Right on I got my 5'7" G2 for 5800
  5. well that piano price was 7500 is already sold to a Customer in Orlando
  6. What kind of money are you asking for that? I have a 1980's G2 (walnut satin finnish) same size but not as nice in the styling. Id like to know how this compares in price.. thanks
